Potential developer in the making...

I come from Johannesburg, South Africa. I currently run my own Telecommunications company. It is 11 years old and I employ around 82 staff members. Prior to this I ran a small Insurance Company and have had experience in both the Corporate Finance and Auditing corporate worlds. I have worked in both Boston and Puerto Rico during my auditing days. I have a degree and honours in Finance and I am a registered Chartered Accountant (SA). I also completed level 1 of my CFA before staring my own business.

I got interested in coding when my IT team were too slow to get data to me, so I decided to learn SQL. From there I completed a number of online Python courses and am now completing my Full Stack Development with MERN through MIT xPro. The courses completed and certifications are shown on my LinkedIn page.

I love to travel, I have visited over 35 countries. I currently spend my time between Miami and Johannesburg.

I once survived a microlight accident. A couple of friends and myself started a blog and reached over 1 million hits. I have my scuba diving, skydiving and sailing licenses and participate in almost any sport I can find for fun. I am a big Formula 1 fan.

A few years ago I created an automated Question and Answer service by text message before smartphones became ubiquitous. Customers would text a question in and the service would reply automatically. We managed to get to a 70% correct answer rate on factual questions.
